Communities
From valley bottoms to mountain tops, from town to ranchland and forests, each of the communities in the West Boundary is unique.
The West Boundary consists of two municipalities (City of Greenwood and the Village of Midway), the large, well developed unincorporated community of Big White Mountain, and several smaller rural communities. In addition to the communities we list below, there are multiple smaller communities whose residents identify as living in historically distinct places: Sidley, Camp McKinney, Jolly Lake, Rock Mountain, Kettle Valley, Jewel Lake, Carmi, Eholt, Rhone, Idabel Lake. Another thing to understand about community definitions in rural areas is that the place names typically refer to a broad area. When you hear “Bridesville” you may be thinking about the small town along Hwy 3. When we say Bridesville, we mean a large tract of land bordered by Rock Creek Canyon Bridge on the east, Mount Baldy on the north, the US border on the south and neighbouring Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen on the west. Welcome to rural living…we guarantee that you will find the variety of our communities and their stories fascinating!
