Director’s Corner – May, 2023
Many thanks to all those people who worked so hard in the areas affected by rising waters and flooding when the regional Emergency Operations Centre was activated in May. Whether you looked out for neighbours affected, helped to fill sandbags, or lined the riverbanks with them, our community is lucky to have you and extremely grateful for your efforts. Hopefully, everyone will remain vigilant and stay away from the water’s edge as conditions dictate. It will certainly be a welcome relief when everyone is back to their spring-time routines of gardening and working outdoors.
In other news, I’m excited to announce that I recently presented to RDKB’s Board of Directors to approve a Canada Community Building Fund Grant to complete the Rock Creek & Boundary Fair Grandstands! The grant is for $110,000 with the Fair Association contributing $90,000 toward the project. The replacement is a safety issue, and thanks to the Fair Board and the hard work of Lisa Simms, all necessary preparations are being made to replace the Grandstands and Show Livestock Show Ring Bleachers this Summer. We can’t wait to enjoy the results!
